I'm SO excited to finally share Nate's room! We moved into our house 2 weeks before he was born and then he slept in his crib in our room until he was 6 months old, so it was a while before his nursery was complete.
When I first found out I was pregnant, I immediately starting looking at nursery ideas. I don’t know if it was my excitement to move from our downtown apartment into our first house in the suburbs or just my general love for decorating, but I was so excited to bring baby’s bedroom to life! This was before I knew Nate was a boy, so I had two very solid ideas, or "visions" as I so fondly call them, for the nursery – one for a boy and one for a girl. In either case, I didn’t really want the room to be a typical nursery. I wanted it to be simple, modern, chic, and something that baby could grow into.
The boy theme that I chose was rugby stripes in the color scheme navy, white, and light gray (with a few pops of charcoal). Both of my visions involved an accent wall with a big statement piece above the crib. Insert my handy husband, Mike. We always joke that we're such a good team because I'm great at coming up with "the visions" and he's great at bringing them to life. This nursery was my inspiration for the marquee sign and Mike definitely exceeded all of my expectations! We bought the N marquee letter on Etsy and he built the frame that it's mounted on. This is something I definitely plan to leave up long-term because there is some major wall damage behind it - like an outlet hole in the middle of the wall and the marks from the extra strength hanging hardware that we used to make sure it's safe for Nate. Nate loves to look up at the marquee light and I hope that he continues to love his room as much as I do!
